Dr. Leila Zahir Mirdamadi Surgeon and specialist in obstetrics and gynecology, infertility, and reproductive disorders Cosmetic and reconstructive gynecological surgery Pregnancy care Menopause care I am Leila Mirdamadi, a specialist in obstetrics and gynecology. First and foremost, before being a physician, I am a woman, and I believe in defending women's rights. In my field, what I can do to help achieve this goal is support women's health from adolescence and young adulthood through pregnancy and menopause, stand by them during these stages of their lives, and I believe that women must first have a healthy and well-functioning body in order to achieve their goals. Second, I am a mother, and with all my heart, I feel the love that a woman carries within herself for becoming a mother. Consequently, I understand the pain of becoming a mother, being a mother, and not being a mother. My heartfelt wish is to stand alongside this group of people who, throughout human history, have been called the second sex. I was born outside Iran, but I spent my childhood in the poetry-loving city of Shiraz and its beautiful gardens, and I think my interest in poetry and poets originated there. I attended Farzanegan Amin School (for gifted students) during middle and high school in my hometown, Isfahan, a city of authentic Iranian art. It was during this period that I became interested in theater and painting and pursued activities in these fields. Since I had dreamed of becoming a surgeon from childhood, I came to Tehran to study medicine and went through the difficult yet rewarding years of medical school at Tehran University of Medical Sciences. Afterwards, during my compulsory service period, I was accepted into general surgery in Isfahan, my field of interest. However, my interest in being alongside women, together with my interest in infants and the birth of this ever-sacred phenomenon, each time newer than the last, led me to change specialties. Due to family matters, I went to Kermanshah, the hub of western Iran, and during my residency I was alongside my fellow citizens in western Iran and gained extensive experience. After completing my compulsory service in Qazvin Province and Karaj, I came to Tehran. I had the opportunity to gain experience in laparoscopy and gynecology at Sarem Hospital under Dr. Sarem and benefit from his valuable experience.
